Promoting staff wellness was the purpose of a recent event held at Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF).

Warden Anissa De La Cruz hosted the inaugural Staff Wellness Self Care Fair with over 600 CCWF staff attending from all work areas.

This event also featured more than 50 outside vendors and CDCR agencies sponsoring booths for our staff to receive everything from wellness informational pamphlets to wellness services.

This was a way to promote awareness of available services and ways to better care for themselves and family.

The day was filled with music, gifts, prizes, food, and smiles.

Some of the booth participants included:

  • California Peace Officers Foundation
  • Service Employees International Union
  • CDCR Office of Wellness
  • CCWF Recruitment Team
  • Government Alliance for Race and Equity
  • California Correctional Chaplain Services
  • Valley State Prison Peer Support
  • Fresno Police Department Peer Support
  • Merced Sheriff’s Department Animal Control (with all pups being adopted).

The warden attended along with CDCR Associate Director Angela Kent.

The CCWF Employee Action Committee partnered with Warden De La Cruz to supply taco plates and drinks for all those attending.

The event included music, a photo booth, massages, facials, chiropractic adjustments, peer support, chaplain support, real estate, travel, and much more.

“Prioritizing staff wellness is essential for nurturing a culture of care, improving employee morale, increasing productivity, and ultimately, fostering a thriving and resilient organization,” De La Cruz said. “We acknowledge the hard work CCWF staff do on a daily basis and wanted them to have the opportunity to find ways to decompress away from work. I truly appreciate all that they do.”
