July 21-27, 2024
This year marks the 25th annual Parole Supervision Week, a time to honor and recognize the dedicated professionals in pretrial, probation, and parole throughout California and the nation. These individuals play a crucial role in keeping the public safe and helping people reintegrate into society. Through their compassion, courage, and heroism, they act as role models, providing those under their care with the tools needed for a healthy, constructive, and drug-free lifestyle.

The Impact of Parole Professionals
In California, the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) is part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). DAPO professionals work to keep the public safe while showing professionalism, integrity, and strength. They go beyond just supervising people by offering education, treatment, and involvement in programs that help people change their lives. Through their support, individuals under parole supervision find hope and learn responsibility, creating an environment that helps them grow personally.
Board of Parole Hearings (BPH) Contributions
Besides DAPO, the Board of Parole Hearings (BPH) also plays an important role. BPH parole agents help investigate to make sure that people coming up for parole hearings are thoroughly checked. They provide commissioners with all the necessary information to make informed decisions. This process helps ensure that public safety is maintained and that those released on parole are ready to reintegrate into the community.
Family and Community Reconnection
Parole professionals, including those from DAPO and BPH, work with community organizations, social services, and law enforcement to promote public safety. These partnerships help rebuild relationships and strengthen family bonds, aiding community healing and restoration. Their work is essential in creating a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and successful reintegration.
Governor Newsom’s Proclamation
To recognize their important contributions, Governor Newsom has signed a [Proclamation for Parole Supervision Week] (). This proclamation highlights the dedication and innovative thinking of parole professionals, acknowledging their hard work in contributing to community safety and restoration.
Join Us in Recognition
As we celebrate Parole Supervision Week 2024, we encourage all Californians to join us in recognizing the invaluable contributions of parole professionals.
