A parole agent who graduated the academy in May recently assisted car accident victims on the Angeles Forest Highway.

On June 26, Parole Agent Justin Luckinbill was driving home when he came across a single-car accident.

A four-door car with a smashed front end was still partly in the roadway. He saw there were two women in the car.

The agent pulled alongside and asked if anyone was hurt. The driver responded she was not but was unsure about her sister. Luckinbill then pulled his vehicle over, turned on his hazard lights and provided assistance to the occupants.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle but due to the location, there was no cell service. The agent then checked the passenger who was shaking and crying, but not badly hurt.

Unable to call 911, he instructed another bystander who had also pulled over to drive to the firehouse up the road and notify emergency personnel. He also asked the bystander to then return to confirm.

Due to a turn in the road, Luckinbill set up emergency triangles from his state vehicle to help ensure everyone’s safety. He then turned his attention to comforting those involved in the accident.

Once the US Forest Service made it to the accident scene, they blocked the other lane of traffic until CHP and ambulance services arrived. Nobody was seriously injured in the accident.

According to parole officials, Agent Luckinbill demonstrated professionalism by caring for the occupants while sending another bystander to get help. Additionally, he demonstrated compassion for the occupants by providing aid and comforting them while they were unable to contact emergency services.

Parole Agent Luckinbill graduated from the Basic Parole Agent Academy on May 31, 2024, and arrived at the Southern Region Headquarters on June 3. He was still going through the field training program at the Los Angeles Central District, assigned to Field Training Officer Vernon Tan.
