Thanks to the efforts of the California Men’s Colony (CMC) Fire Department, a group of baby ducklings have a second chance at life.
On Monday morning, May 12, the CMC Fire Department at San Luis Obispo responded to an unusual emergency call. Baby ducklings had fallen through a storm drain grate near the CMC parking lot and were trapped underneath.
CMC firefighters quickly acted, carefully removing the heavy grate and sending a firefighter down into the confined space. One by one, the frightened ducklings were gently gathered and brought to safety.
Thanks to the swift response and compassion of the CMC Fire Department, all of the ducklings were successfully rescued. Later, the ducklings were transferred to a local wildlife rescue center for care and eventual release back into the wild.
