Armando Viveros, Jr., a retired correctional officer, passed away May 8, 2025. He retired in 2011 with 18 years of service to the department.

He began his career as a cadet at the academy in September 1993. After graduating, he reported to Centinela State Prison as a correctional officer in November 1993.
He then then transferred to California Institution for Men in June 1995 where he remained until retiring in 2011.
“Correctional Officer A. Viveros will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time,” according to a statement issued by California Institution for Men.
According to this family, he enjoyed traveling, camping, and watching sports.
He is survived by his wife, son, two stepchildren, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., May 20, at Pierce Bros. Turner & Steven’s Mortuary 1136 E Las Tunas Drive, San Gabriel.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m., May 21, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1901 S. San Gabriel Blvd., San Gabriel.
