CDCR recruitment team reports fair success

The CDCR Peace Officer Recruitment team recently wrapped up a successful event at Pomona’s Los Angeles County Fair. The May 2-26 event drew 717,815 attendees this year, proving to be a valuable platform for connecting with a diverse pool of potential recruits.

A key factor in the overwhelming success of CDCR’s presence was the collaborative effort between Peace Officer Recruitment and the Southern Background Unit sergeants, led by Lt. Norma Verduzco. Their combined expertise at the CDCR booth offered fair attendees an unparalleled level of insight into the peace officer application process.

“It was truly awesome having my background sergeants on hand,” said Verduzco. “We were able to provide direct, in-depth answers to questions. They asked about navigating the background process, interviews, the fitness test requirement, and other frequently asked questions. This is often the most tedious and confusing step of the application. Our presence was a tremendous asset in clarifying things for potential recruits.”

The Los Angeles County Fair, renowned for its vast and diverse population, provided CDCR with a unique opportunity to engage with individuals from all walks of life. The department was able to leverage the fair’s rich demographic tapestry to highlight CDCR’s rewarding career opportunities, attracting a wide range of qualified candidates.
