The Ironwood State Prison (ISP) soccer team took home the gold during the US Police and Fire Championships in San Diego.
Team members were mostly from ISP but also included members from Centinela State Prison and California Rehabilitation Center in Norco.
The ISP soccer team played six games in the championships to win the gold.
The first game pitted ISP soccer against the Otay Rebels, with CDCR coming out with a 9-0 win. Other games followed against various teams with wins of 9-3, 6-3, 6-1, and 6-4. In the final game against Campo Football Club, ISP took the win after an extra-time golden goal with a minute left on the clock, finishing 6-5.
