CDCR Internal Affairs staff support toy drive

Cars displayed in Bakerfield as part of a toy drive for foster care children.

The CDCR Office of Internal Affairs, Allegation Investigation Unit (AIU), Central Office in Bakersfield, turned up to support a toy drive for children in foster care.

Cruise for Cottage Foster Care Toy Drive, held Nov. 8, found staff, their families and the community showing off their classic rides, playing games, and supporting local vendors. They also donated unwrapped toys all in the spirit of helping those within the foster care system.

Since 1987, the Holiday Cottage has tried to fill wishes for Kern County children in foster care during the holidays. The Kern County Department of Human Services works with resource parents, social workers, probation and others to fill over 800 wishes for the children.

“Efforts like this make small differences within our communities,” said AIU Capt. Martinez. “Being able to support (the toy drive) exemplifies the importance of our staff and their contributions to the community.”
