Calipatria prison holds first PSSP graduation

PSSP graduates at Calipatria State Prison.

Calipatria State Prison recently hosted their first Peer Support Specialist Program (PSSP) graduation for 20 incarcerated people.

The graduates came from Calipatria State Prison facilities A, B, and D, completing their training and becoming certified by passing the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) exam.

Collaborating with the inmate welfare fun, Health Care management staff and custody were able to work together to recognize the PSSP graduation.

The PSSP graduates were allowed to invite two approved visitors to attend the ceremony.

“It was a beautiful and emotional event where the family members were able to proudly watch their loved ones receive their CalMHSA certification and give their speeches,” said organizers. “It was a touching event. We hope to see many more in the future.”
