The program uses virtual reality within a structured setting supported by CMC mental health staff and Creative Acts staff. Incarcerated participants housed in the Restricted Housing Unit actively engaged in the VR process.

Through this approach, they take part in guided virtual experiences as part of the program.

During the visit, Undersecretary Johnson met with mental health staff, Creative Acts staff, and incarcerated participants to discuss the program. They also explained the program’s structure, and how it was implemented at CMC during the weeklong engagement.

The visit provided an opportunity to engage directly with those involved and hear their perspectives.
Johnson was able to see the program firsthand, gaining a better understanding of how it is carried out within the institution.
