NKSP mourns passing of Officer Anthony Marquez

North Kern State Prison (NKSP) is mourning the passing of Correctional Officer Anthony Marquez. Services will be held Jan. 19-20 in Bakersfield (details listed below).

Anthony Marquez, correctional officer, passed away Jan. 1, 2026.

He passed away Jan. 1, 2026. Marquez began his career with the department in December 2019.

“Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones,” according to NKSP. “Anthony will be missed by his fellow co-workers and all who knew him.”

Public visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Hillcrest Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield.

Rosary will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20, with Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road in Bakersfield. Following Mass, services will continue at the Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield.
