SCC staff take Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

SCC staff take part in the Polar Plunge at Lake Don Pedro in February 2026.

Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) staff jumped in Lake Don Pedro for the 2026 Polar Plunge held Feb. 21.

Chief Psychologist Erin Sicard dressed in green and was the top donor. Meanwhile, Christine Milne, Correctional Health Services administrator, wore purple along with Correctional Lt. Robert Long in shorts and wearing his uniform was Lt. William Whitley, SCC administrative assistant and public information officer.

Whitley and Sicard received awards for the Law Enforcement Torch Run highest funds raised for 2025. Sicard was the highest driver in this fundraiser and while Whitley received a plaque accepted on behalf of the previous public information officer, Ruben Jauregui.

SCC took fourth place, raising $4,155. Together, the event raised nearly $50,000 among 18 teams. The funds raised go toward the Special Olympics.
