Secretary Jeff Macomber and other CDCR and CCHCS leaders joined staff at California State Prison (CSP) Sacramento, to mark the institution’s 40 years of public safety.
Macomber, who served as warden at CSP-Sacramento from 2013 to 2016, reflected on the institution’s history.
“(CSP-Sacramento) is a little bit of an iconic place. Most people don’t know that there are two prisons in Folsom. CSP-Sacramento houses the most difficult population in the state of California,” he said.
The institution was built in the 1980s on the grounds of Folsom State Prison.

“Forty years here at CSP-Sacramento is a true testament to the staff,” Macomber said. “It’s a hardworking institution. The staff deal with a lot of things daily.”
He said the staff deserve credit for their hard work.
“They are the hardest working group of people in the state of California (who) deal with a lot, day in and day out,” he said. “It was great coming back for the 40th anniversary, seeing some other former wardens there as well.”
