Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development, or POSED, through its two offices (below), provides CDCR-focused training and staff development programs for employees in pursuit of professional growth and is also responsible for the selection and hiring of Correctional Officers, Youth Correctional Officers, Youth Correctional Counselors, and Casework Specialists.

The Office of Peace Officer Selection (OPOS)

The Office of Peace Officer Selection (OPOS) is responsible for the selection and hiring of Correctional Officers, Youth Correctional Officers, Youth Correctional Counselors, and Casework Specialists. Additionally, OPOS conducts medical examinations, psychological examinations, physical fitness tests, and background investigations for various classifications including Parole Agent I, Correctional Administrator, Medical Technical Assistant, Special Agent, and other non-entry level peace officer classifications.
