51120.1 Policy

  • Inmates engaged in productive work may receive compensation as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCRCalifornia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) with the approval of the Director, Department of Finance, as specified in Penal Code (PCPenal Code) Section 2700.

  • The statutory limitation on inmate pay, pursuant to PCPenal Code 2700, shall be no higher than one-half the minimum wage stipulated in Section 1182 of the Labor Code (LCLabor Code). Under such authority, “pay schedules” shall be set by institutions/facilities.
