52030.8. Hazardous Substance Exposure Records

Employee hazardous substance exposure records shall be kept in the employee’s workers’ compensation file, with a copy to the employee’s personnel file. A separate envelope marked “Hazardous Substance Exposure Medical File” shall be red-tagged for easy identification.

Upon employee transfer, staff exposure records shall be maintained and transferred to each successive institution and shall be forwarded to the SRCState Records Center when employment is terminated.

A permanent record shall be kept indicating any/all records forwarded to the SRCState Records Center (the name of the employee and the date the records were forwarded).

Inmate hazardous substance exposure records shall be kept in the inmate’s medical file. A separate envelope marked “Hazardous Substance Exposure Medical File” shall be red-tagged for easy identification.

Inmate exposure records shall be transferred to each successive institution and shall be maintained and forwarded to the SRCState Records Center when incarceration is terminated (discharged or deceased).

A permanent record (the name and institution number of the inmate and date records were forwarded) shall be kept indicating records were forwarded to the SRCState Records Center.

Both staff and inmate exposure records shall be maintained and preserved for at least 30 years post-employment or discharge from the Department.
