Chapter 5 – Adult Custody and Security Operations

54030.2 Purpose

• This article establishes incarcerated person personal property volume limits; describes the forms necessary for the processing of property; establishes liability and methods of acquisition of personal and religious property; lists approval criteria, and describes the approval process for vendors; provides for acquisition of religious items, and the disposal of contraband; establishes protocols for the handling of incarcerated person personal property during transfer, extradition, escape, discharge, and upon death in custody. This article also establishes a standardized list of allowable personal property items in the form of the APPS, based upon privilege group, assigned security level, institution mission, and a method for institutions to obtain exemptions to the standardized list.
