Tim Wheeler, a retired correctional officer, passed away May 2, 2024. He worked for the department for 18 years.
Wheeler began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in 1998. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to California Medical Facility.
He transferred to Folsom State Prison in April 2016. Wheeler retired from state service in December 2016.
“We wish to extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Wheeler during this difficult time. His service and dedication were an asset to CDCR, and those who knew him will truly miss him. Wheeler was a caring kindhearted person who was admired by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him,” according to a statement issued by Folsom State Prison.
