“Since I was a kid, I wanted to be in law enforcement,” said CDCR Parole Agent Zek Durrani of the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO). He found his calling helping people released to parole supervision successfully reenter their communities.
“I wanted to help out these guys,” said Agent Durrani. “The most rewarding thing,” he said, is when, after being released from prison, his clients get jobs and, “as time goes on, they become very self-sufficient.”
“My job is to help them reintegrate,” he said.
“It definitely helps when you have someone who can give you some guidance when you need it, and the resources you need,” stated one of his former clients. He is now working as a canine enrichment coordinator for Dogs Playing for Life.
“I listen to them, and as I listen to them, I help them come up with their game plan. I study them, and see what they’re capable of, and then I talk to them about what they want to do in life,” said Agent Durrani regarding listening to his clients.
“People who are willing to go the extra mile to give you that support, that’s something I’ll always be thankful for,” said his former client. “Thank you for being flexible, for giving me advice, and the support that I needed to be successful.”
