CDCR welcomes 237 new correctional officers

Graduation ceremony for CDCR Academy Class 5-24A

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) welcomed 237 new correctional officers to its ranks. Graduating from the CDCR Academy in Galt on July 26, the officers of Class 5-24A are ready to report for duty. They will be deployed across various correctional facilities in California, where they will contribute to public safety and rehabilitation efforts.

Keynote Speaker Warden Daniel E. Cueva

Daniel E. Cueva, warden of the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, delivered the keynote address.

“These officers have demonstrated exceptional discipline and commitment. They are prepared to lead and serve with integrity and compassion,” he said.

CDCR’s Mission and Commitment: The graduation reinforces CDCR’s ongoing mission to maintain a highly skilled and diverse workforce. The new officers will play a crucial role in maintaining order and promoting rehabilitation within the state’s correctional facilities.

California continues to lead in public safety and correctional reform. Significant investments have been made in officer well-being, victim support, and innovative rehabilitation programs.
