CDCR, CCHCS staff volunteer at National Night Out

In neighborhoods across the state, CDCR and California Correctional Health Care Services staff took part in National Night Out.

The nationwide event helps law enforcement agencies connect with the communities they serve.

Training, transportation staff get into National Night Out

Staff from the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center and Northern Transportation Hub took part in Galt’s National Night Out. Held at Galt Community Park, the Aug. 6 event promotes partnerships between the community and law enforcement. The camaraderie helps make neighborhoods safer.

“The CDCR staff had a great time,” according to organizers. “(We enjoyed) meeting community members, playing games, and answering questions about the department.”

San Francisco Parole Unit interacts with families at Mission District Park

San Francisco Parole Unit 1 participated in National Night Out in the heart of Mission District Park. Staff stood proudly with Mayor London Nicole Breed and other law enforcement agencies. Parole agents and staff interacted with children and their parents while passing out goodie bags and meeting outside stakeholders.

Santa Rosa parole at Napa National Night Out

According to the Santa Rosa Parole Unit, National Night Out in Napa County was a huge success. Parole Agent II Natasha Pacheco and Agent Erika Morgan represented the unit and CDCR, joining over 30 other booths and vendors Aug. 6 at Napa Valley College. CHP brought their helicopter for children to check out while there were also K-9 demonstrations, dunk-a-cop, mounted posse horses, and animals such as a miniature bull and goats. The parole booth offered crayons and coloring pages as well as lollipops and stickers. “So many kids came by to say hello, we ran out of supplies,” the agents said.

Woodland Parole GPS Unit joins Solano County activities

Vallejo and Fairfield hosted National Night Out Aug. 6 and the Woodland Parole GPS Unit was there to help.

Parole Agent III Maurice Blount along with Parole Agents Erica Sanders-Johnson, Johnathan Richardson, Rocio Cobian and Roberto Vasquez volunteered their time to attend two National Night Out events.

They split their efforts between block parties held in Vallejo and Fairfield, partnering with police and fire departments in both cities. Others involved included CHP, city council members, community leaders, and representatives of nonprofit organizations.

The agents handed out stickers, bags, highlighters, mouse pads, colored pencils, safety books and wristbands.

“This provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances,” according to organizers.

Parole agents volunteer for Woodland event

Three CDCR Woodland Parole Unit agents took part in the Aug. 6 Woodland National Night Out.

Volunteering their time were Parole Agent II Kamal Singh along with agents Andrew Stragalinos and Steve Leu.

The agents partnered with the City of Woodland, Woodland Police Department, Yolo County Probation, Woodland Fire Department, and CHP. The agents spoke with community members, law enforcement leaders and city council officials.

The agents distributed highlighters, mouse pads, colored pencils, safety books and wristbands.

Correctional Training Facility, Salinas Valley State Prison at National Night Out

Soledad joined cities across the nation in hosting the annual National Night Out Aug. 6, an event dedicated to enhancing the relationship between residents and law enforcement agencies. The gathering provided a unique opportunity for community members to engage directly with correctional peace officers, police officers, and other emergency personnel.

The event featured interactive displays including emergency vehicles from local police and fire departments, allowing attendees a close-up view of the equipment and vehicles used in public safety operations. Additionally, In-Service Training Staff and the Crisis Response Team from the Correctional Training Facility and Salinas Valley State Prison were present to provide insights into the roles and responsibilities of correctional facilities.

Numerous community booths were set up, offering educational material and free treats to visitors, creating a family-friendly atmosphere conducive to learning and community bonding. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a safer, more connected community through open dialogue and shared experiences between the public and those serving to protect it.

Parole agents turn out in Rancho Cucamonga

The Division of Adult Parole Operations, San Bernardino Parole District, participated in the Aug. 6 National Night Out in Rancho Cucamonga.

This year’s event, hosted at Central Park in Rancho Cucamonga, saw an impressive turnout of residents, local businesses, and various organizations, all coming together to strengthen community bonds.  Parole agents from the San Bernardino Parole District were on hand to provide information about their roles, answer questions from the public, and offer insights into the parole process. This transparency helped demystify parole, demonstrating our dedication to reintegrating those on parole back into society, as productive and law-abiding citizens. 

The event featured several family-friendly activities, including face painting, games, and raffles. These activities were designed to create a welcoming atmosphere and encourage dialogue between the community and law enforcement. Children and adults enjoyed the opportunity to engage with officers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

California Correctional Institution at National Night Out

California Correctional Institution (CCI) participated in Tehachapi’s National Night Out Aug. 6.

Hosted by the Tehachapi Police Department, CCI’s Recruitment team, along with members of the Investigative Services Unit, and the Crisis Response Team, represented CDCR.

They interacted with families, allowing children to dress in the Crisis Response Team gear and play games. Children also colored pages provided by the Investigative Services Unit.

Sgt. Chelsea Patricio said this was a great way to interact with the community while also networking with other law enforcement agencies.

“It was a great event,” she said. “I love seeing the kids excited to meet us and put our badge stickers on”
