During National Nurses Week, CDCR, CCHCS, institutions and divisions across California celebrated their contributions.

CSP-Corcoran shows support for nurses

California State Prison (CSP) Corcoran celebrated National Nurses Week through appreciation events and giveaways.

Mule Creek State Prison hosts Nurses Week event

Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) thanked nurses through appreciation events at the Ione institution.

The Italian-themed event included catered food, music, prizes, charcuterie boards, and plenty of games.

Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) hosted a National Nurses Week event complete with treats, pizza and beverages.

CCHCS headquarters hosts National Nurses Week luncheon

On May 8, and in honor of National Nurses Week, observed May 6-12, CCHCS Nursing leadership hosted a special luncheon for nursing staff at CCHCS headquarters in Elk Grove. CCHCS leadership also attended the event, representing several different program areas. They thanked nursing staff for their invaluable commitment to patient care. The event included food, a dessert competition, games and recognition of different nursing groups.

Kern Valley State Prison celebrates nurses

Kern Valley State Prison in Delano held a weeklong celebration honoring their nursing staff.

With overwhelming support from all departments, the festivities honored the dedication of the hardworking nursing staff. Each day featured food and treats, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie. The week concluded on a high note with a karaoke contest, where 13 talented performers competed for the grand prize.

Each day was designed to celebrate the hard work and humanity of our staff while giving them space to enjoy the moment, be seen, and most importantly, be fed.

Wasco State Prison thanks nursing staff

Nurses Week at Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP) was nothing short of spectacular, filled with festivities and appreciation for nursing staff.

Each day brought a new surprise, designed to show appreciation for everything they do. There were daily giveaways, food, treats, t-shirts, popcorn, and nachos.

To round off the week in style, Friday was all about sweetness. Bags of sweet treats and refreshing ice cream were handed out, providing the perfect way to end a week of celebration on a high note.

“Nursing staff are the heart and soul of WSP, and we are incredibly proud and fortunate to have them on our team,” said organizers.

California Men’s Colony hosts Nurses Week

California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo celebrated Nurses Week with the theme of “Glitz and Glam of Casino Royale.” Office technicians, associate governmental program analysts, supervising registered nurses, and the chief nurse executive worked together to set up the festivities.

Monday included breakfast while Tuesday was devoted to a state service pin ceremony. The person with the longest state service was Joyti Scott, supervising registered nurse II, with 30 years.

There was a pyramid of noodle soup and a mini pyramid of bottled water as well as an assortment of snacks Wednesday. As a token of appreciation and a simple thank you to all nursing staff, management gave away gift bags containing travel cups. Thursday was the most anticipated day of the celebration week, a drawing to win the assortment of gift baskets donated by the nursing supervisors. To end the weeklong celebration, California Men’s Colony offered coffee and pastries on Friday.

“We truly appreciate the support given to us by our CEO and CCHCS executives and managers,” said organizers.

North Kern State Prison celebrates Nurses Week

North Kern State Prison (NKSP) honors Nurses Week, each day featuring a special celebration.

Nurses received colorful gift sets, themed shirts, a fiesta luncheon, and more treats throughout the week. Each day highlighted a variety of fun and meaningful activities.

NKSP showed appreciation with these small tokens of gratitude to nurses for the compassion, dedication, and excellence they bring daily.

CRC-Norco marks National Nurses Week

In honor of National Nurses Week, the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) at Norco showed their appreciation for nursing staff by hosting daily activities, luncheons, and giveaways all week long. Leadership thanked nursing staff for their dedication, hard work, and profound impact they have on the patients.

Themed days included:

  • Monday: Nacho Average Monday
  • Tuesday: Take a break Tuesday
  • Wednesday: Bingo
  • Thursday: Jersey Mike’s luncheon
  • Friday: I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream Friday
