Getting up close with the new dog program at ISP.

The Ironwood State Prison (ISP) Dog Training Academy is a newly developed program working in collaboration with Mal’s House Rescue.

The program at ISP in Blythe has been well received by staff and the incarcerated population.

“Our intake of canines is received from Mal’s House. Each canine is assigned an incarcerated person handler, and the handler is tasked with training these pups with basic commands,” said program organizers.

Once the canines have completed the academy, they are retrieved by Mal’s House with the hope their new skills increase their chances of adoption.

This is not a funded program as all supplies are provided by Mal’s House and through staff donations.
