CDCR’s Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) led two multi-agency parole compliance sweeps as a part of Operation Spring Cleaning and Operation Community Shield.
The operations were conducted in April in Central and Southern California.
DAPO partnered with multiple CDCR and state law enforcement agencies that were instrumental in their success. Participating agencies included the Division of Adult Institutions (DAI), Office of Correctional Safety (OCS), Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and others.

Operation Spring Cleaning
Operation Spring Cleaning took place in Los Angeles on April 16. This activation involved approximately 250 law enforcement personnel who conducted more than 125 searches. Over 30 offenders were arrested for either felony or misdemeanor crimes related to gang activity, sexual offenses, and outstanding warrants, as well as violations of parole and probation conditions.
Operation Community Shield
Operation Community Shield was conducted in Santa Maria on April 16, resulting in four arrests, as well as the recovery of a weapon and drug paraphernalia.
Individuals on parole are required to adhere to special conditions of parole including obeying the law, reporting to their parole agent regularly, and not possessing firearms and/or other weapons. DAPO uses many operational strategies in communities to ensure public safety, bring supervised people into compliance and provide them with needed resources.
Those found in violation of parole will face the possibility of parole being revoked or new criminal charges due to parole violations.

Agencies that participated in Operation Spring Cleaning and Operation Community Shield included:
From CDCR:
- San Fernando Valley Parole District
- Special Service Unit
- Fugitive Apprehension Team
- California State Prison, LA County, Crisis Response Team
- San Luis Obispo Parole Office
- DAPO Community Compliance Unit
- DAPO Division Training Unit
- California Men’s Colony, Investigative Services Unit
Other law enforcement agencies:
