North Kern honors longtime volunteer Gregory Arrout

For a quarter of a century, the men of North Kern State Prison have looked toward the chapel doors and seen a familiar face: Gregory Arrout.

For 25 years, Arrout has arrived not as a visitor, but as a shepherd to those seeking religious guidance.

Through Rock of Ages Prison Ministry, he has dedicated himself to a mission extending beyond the perimeter fence in Delano. As North Kern honors this milestone, prison officials recognize Arrout has done more than provide religious services. He’s provided consistency.

He has also reminded the men of North Kern even though they may be physically incarcerated, their spirits remain capable of boundless freedom.

“Thank you, Greg, for 25 years of showing up. Thank you for the countless lives you have touched, hearts you have mended and light you have kept burning behind the walls,” prison officials wrote.
