How to Request Transcripts and Certificates from the California Education Authority

The Education Services Branch operates as a local education agency (LEA) called the California Education Authority. The Branch Deputy Director/Superintendent of Education is responsible for all aspects of the education program for 11 high schools within our youth correctional facilities, two satellite schools in parole centers, and one satellite program located in the Department’s youth conservation camp.

Education has remained a strong component of our treatment programs within the Division of Juvenile Justice, even before the creation of the California Education Authority. As a result, we receive many requests about how former youths can receive a copy of their transcripts.

Here’s how to make your requests:

Transcript Request: You may use the attached form or provide a signed letter requesting the transcript that contains all of the following information below. Additionally, we need the following information pertaining to the former DJJ youth: their full name, date of birth, CYA ID #, institution name, approximate time frame of attendance, daytime phone number, and if applicable, graduation date. We are in the process of digitizing our student records. During this process, it may take up to 21 working days to complete transcript requests. Please mail or fax your request with all pertinent information to:
