Automated Rehabilitative Catalog And Information Discovery Machine
The Automated Rehabilitative Catalog And Information Discovery (ARCAID) machines make comprehensive program and resource information easily accessible to offenders and parolees to help them successfully reintegrate into their communities. Each ARCAID machine is a robust, durable kiosk featuring a user-friendly touch-screen interface, a dedicated printer, and access to a database of thousands of community resources, forms, documents, and job listings.
In the future, ARCAID is anticipated to be available on a variety of digital devices to continue connecting the population to critical community planning and resources. Offenders can select a nearby community resource from the category of their choice, view and print contact information for their selections to help them on their way. In addition to community resources, the ARCAID machines also offer access to a library of forms and documents that are printable through the kiosk.
Lastly, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has partnered with Monster Government Solutions to offer access to real-time job postings directly through the ARCAID kiosks. The job postings are provided through custom interfaces with Monster.com and Jobs.com. ARCAID machines are optimized to search for the resources that are critical to an offender’s successful reintegration into society. The self-guided interface makes it easy for offenders to find resources without the need for assistance. CDCR anticipates the ARCAID machines will increase utilization of rehabilitative programs while reducing offenders’ dependence on staff for research and referrals.
ARCAID machines are accessible by offenders at select institutions as well by parolees in select parole offices.
