To apply, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- At least 20 years of age at the time of application and 21 years of age at the time of appointment to the Academy
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a U.S. institution or a California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate
- U.S. Citizen or a permanent legal resident who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship at the time of application
- No felony convictions and eligible to own/possess a firearm
