Step 2:
Written Examination

The next step in the application process is to complete the written examination.
You will receive an email within 10 days of submitting an online application. It will include the date, time, and location of your examination, your candidate identification number, and login instructions for our online scheduling system. Login instructions will differ for distant and out-of-state applicants.

You have two options to complete the written examination, online or in person at one of our three selection centers.

Applicants are assigned a testing center based on the address provided in the application. You can change your testing location by contacting your assigned center.
What’s on the exam?
The written exam evaluates grammar, spelling, punctuation, reading comprehension, and basic mathematics. You have one hour and forty-five minutes to complete the 53-question, multiple-choice exam.

Please note: If you are unable to attend the scheduled exam date, please reschedule using the online scheduling system or contact your assigned testing center.
Exam results
Candidates will receive examination results within 1 to 3 business days via email.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you fail the written examination, or fail to appear within a designated testing cycle, you will be eliminated from this examination and ineligible to reapply for three (3) months.
