Certification
Congratulations!
After successfully completing all steps, you will be added to a certification list stating that you are eligible to work as a Correctional Peace Officer.
The next step is to provide your institution preferences.
Hiring offers are made according to the needs of the Department.
Your location preferences will be considered. We cannot guarantee the institution you want will have vacancies at the time you’re ready
to be hired, but you’ll get to make the ultimate decision on which location is right for you.
The Academy
After you accept your institution assignment, you can begin your peace officer training at the Academy. Once you are sworn in, you will join the ranks of more than 30,000 officers who lead with integrity, trust, and respect.

Medical Exam and Vision Test
This comprehensive physical examination checks your overall physical health. It includes vision, color vision, hearing, blood work, a Respiratory FIT mask test, and a urinalysis drug screening.
